Sept. 17 Feedback Session with Housing & Homelessness Advisory Committee

On September 17, Beam Group will facilitate a two-hour session to gather feedback from the Housing & Homelessness Advisory Committee and interested community members on the draft 2026–2036 Housing and Homelessness Plan. This is a key opportunity to pressure-test the Plan before it's finalized. Your feedback will directly shape the version that goes to Council for consideration.

The meeting will take place at the Central Branch of the Kingston-Frontenac Public Library located at 130 Johnson Street in Meeting Room 1 starting at 1:00pm. Please note that this is still a meeting of the Committee under the Procedure By-Law, and as such quorum will have to be maintained and minutes will be taken – the Committee Clerk will remind everyone of the process before the meeting. Please reach out to BEAM Group or the City at any time if you have questions.

Here are the details you will need to engage at this session:

When: Thursday, Sept. 17 @ 1 p.m.

Where: 130 Johnson Street, Central Branch of KFPL

BEFORE THE SESSION

• Read the materials in advance: Meeting materials will be available Friday Sept. 11 by noon on the Housing and Homelessness Advisory Committee webpage as per the committee's standard operating procedure.

• Come prepared with specific questions: About the evidence base, the goals, the proposed initiatives, or how success will be measured.

• Identify specific, actionable feedback rather than general impressions: Where possible, provide examples, or indicate the section, or initiative you're responding to.

• Think about what might be missing: Are there needs, goals, priorities, or issues not addressed?

• Reflect on how the Plan’s vision and goals connect to what we heard through stakeholder engagement: Does it reflect the themes and priorities the community raised?

• Draw on what you observe directly through your own work and networks: Where does the Plan’s visions, goals and priorities match your lived experience of the system, and where does it diverge?

ARRIVING FOR THE SESSION

• When you arrive: The room will be set up for small group discussion. Feel free to find a chair and settle in.

• The meeting is open to members of the public and staff: Anyone in attendance will be invited to participate in the workshop and will be seated amongst committee members.

• Please come prepared for the session: Dress comfortably and bring water.

DURING THE SESSION

• Come ready to discuss, as well as listen: Beam Group will keep the presentation brief to leave room for meaningful conversation.

• Raise questions or concerns directly: This is the moment for it, before the Plan is finalized.

• Help us stress-test feasibility: Are the priorities and timelines realistic given capacity, funding, and partner readiness?

• Feel free to move around as needed: There will not be a scheduled bio-break during the session
