What we heard

To date, City staff have held five in-person open houses and hosted an online Q&A forum to gather early feedback on Kingston's transition to a cart-based waste collection system. These engagements provided an opportunity to ask questions, express potential concerns, and view various cart sizes. Across these engagements, we received input from almost 200 people.

The most common concern that staff heard was related to cart sizes and storage. Residents were also concerned about potentially decreasing waste diversion with the use of larger carts. This, along with storage concerns, were the main reasons many people preferred the 120L cart.

Questions and answers are available in the Q&A tab for you to peruse. A survey asking for additional feedback will be available on the Get Involved Kingston page in the coming days.
