Help shape how Kingston engages on housing solutions
An invitation for feedback on how we engage on housing solutions has been posted to Get Involved Kingston. We value your input and experiences as a subscriber to the Collins-Bayridge District Supportive Housing page.
Help shape how Kingston engages on housing solutions
When housing solutions are proposed for your neighbourhood, how would you like to learn about them or offer input on how they are integrated into your community? From Aug.19 to Sept. 21, we are asking residents for feedback as we review how the City engages the community when implementing housing solutions.
This review follows a motion from City Council earlier this year to examine how the City engages residents on housing solutions and identify opportunities for improvement.
“We are seeking input from housing and homelessness service providers, individuals with lived experience, neighbours of recent housing solution projects and all interested community members to ensure that any enhanced approaches meet the needs of our community” says JC Kenny, Director of Communications & Customer Experience. “This work aligns with our Strategic Priorities to Foster a Caring and Inclusive Community and Support Housing Affordability”
Residents can provide input and read draft recommendations based on research in other Canadian municipalities, review comments and ideas received at housing engagements this past spring and read about existing policies and procedures and best practices on Get Involved Kingston.
We will include community feedback in the report to Council and take input into consideration for future enhancements. Any enhanced practices will continue to follow the Municipal Act, 2001, municipal policies and a human rights-based approach to housing.
