Crawford Wharf - Rehabilitation and Servicing Project

The Crawford Wharf is situated in Kingston’s vibrant downtown area and contributes to the marine tourism industry every year for residents and visitors.

Structural rehabilitation and servicing improvements to the wharf seawall are scheduled for construction over the winter of 2026 through to summer 2027. The work includes removal of all asphalt surface, repairs to seawall anchoring systems and the removal of the large concrete block on the wharf’s east end.

The work also includes removing the south side marine ramp, which will increase the usable space of the wharf surface. The north ramp will be replaced with a movable steel platform to help support passenger boat access.

In addition, the City of Kingston is using this opportunity to install new water, electrical and sanitary infrastructure underneath the wharf surface. To improve the look and functionality of the wharf’s operation, a new building is being installed on the northeast corner of the parking lot that will house the utility equipment and provide new seasonal public washrooms.

The wharf and pathway design criteria will follow Facility Accessibility Design Standards (FADS) and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) standards.

Boat tour operations will continue through construction in coordination with tour boat operators to mitigate direct impacts to visitors.
