Heritage Management Plan

Heritage Management Plan. Logo includes a letter H overlaid on several patterns.

Share your input as we develop the City’s first Heritage Management Plan.

This plan will guide our work to preserve the landscapes, buildings, stories and traditions of Kingston’s many communities. The feedback received during public engagement will help us understand which parts of Kingston’s heritage are important to you. Public input will be taken into consideration as we develop the Heritage Management Plan.

What do we mean when we talk about heritage?

  • Heritage is space and place: the physical environment, landscapes, buildings, museums and symbolic spaces that shape Kingston’s identity.

  • Heritage is people and cultures: shared histories, traditions, personal and collective identities and cultural expressions.

Kingston’s heritage is an evolving story that connects our communities through the past, present and future. The places, people, stories and traditions across urban and rural Kingston shape the city’s unique identity.

Help us build a collective vision for Kingston’s heritage!

  • Engagement report: What we heard

This What We Heard report summarizes the consultation activities conducted through this process, and captures the feedback collected. The purpose of this report is to highlight key insights from this process, understand community ideas and surface emerging priorities, and inform the development of the Heritage Management Plan.
