K&P Trail from Waaban Crossing to Belle Park - Transportation Network Improvements

A new off-road multi-use pathway, stretching more than two kilometres, is being designed and constructed along the former Grand Trunk Railway lands from John Counter Boulevard to Rideau Street. It will connect to existing sidewalks along Montreal Street at Belle Park and Railway Street.

It provides a key pathway connection between Kingston’s downtown to John Counter Boulevard, the Elliot Avenue trailhead and the Waaban Crossing pathway and Highway 15 trail network.

This new pathway will upgrade the existing trodden path with a new three-meter asphalt surface, pathway lighting, and rest areas and benches along its length.

The pathway design criteria will follow Facility Accessibility Design Standards (FADS) and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) standards.
