Project update: Spring 2026

Phase 1 of the program, which focused on neighbourhoods with schools, has now been completed. This phase prioritized these areas to support safer routes to school and encourage active transportation, with funding support through the Active Transportation Fund.

Phase 2 is scheduled to begin this spring and will be completed within the year. This next phase will expand the program to additional residential neighbourhoods across the urban part of the city.

As part of Phase 2, the City will also be installing driver feedback signs in the Phase 1 neighbourhoods along key routes to schools to support the new area speed limits. These signs display real-time vehicle speeds and are intended to encourage drivers to slow down and travel at safer speeds.

Residents can check the Neighbourhood Speed Limits Reduction Interactive Map for the latest progress and to see which neighbourhoods are included in upcoming phases.
