A Kingston circle of life in 5 generations

My family came to Kingston in 1826 from Ireland, starting our Canadian line of Timothy Donovan's. His mother Honora was recently widowed from her husband also named Timothy, and brought her two twin sons Timothy and Daniel with her. They took residence just west of Ports Mouth in Kingston, got established and then bought a share of land near Jackson's Mill and then worked that land for many years. Daniel had no family or children but Timothy(my great, great grandfather), He married Catherine Carey on February 18, 1851, in Frontenac, Ontario. They had 15 children in 23 years. He died on November 14, 1883, in Kingston, Ontario, at the age of 62, and was buried there.

Timothy's son John was my great grandfather: When John Donovan was born on October 29, 1858, his father, Timothy, was 37 and his mother, Catherine, was 25. He married Marion (Mary) Langworth on November 13, 1888, in Ontario. They had five children in 11 years. He died on January 21, 1942, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 83, and was buried there. John and Mary had the first 4 children in the Kingston area and then moved to Winnipeg, where they had the fifth and John pursued a successful career in grain elevators and then senior position in CNR.

John and Marion's son Joseph (my grandfather)was born in Kingston area and moved to Winnipeg in 1901 when he was 12. When Joseph James Lawrence Donovan was born on November 3, 1889, in Frontenac, Ontario, his father, John, was 31 and his mother, Marion, was 24. Joseh fought for Canada in the first world war and when he came back he become a court reporter, causing him to travel at times back to the Kington area. He married Mary Theresa O'Donohue on October 18, 1922, in Westport, Ontario. They had four children during their marriage. They lived as a family in Winnipeg where both parents died after long lives.

Jospeh Michael Donovan was born with his twin William ib March 1929, but his twin died in birth.

Joseph was my Father, grew up in Winnipeg, getting a BA at University of Manitoba and he worked in HR in Weyburn Saskatchewan where he met his wife Lorraine Raiwet who was working as a nurse. They then had a family and followed his career in the Canadian civil service to Regina, Saskatoon and then Ottawa where he rose to the Director of Personnel for the Justice department.

Their first son was Timothy Donovan (me) who was born in Regina, and ended up in Ottawa for most of his schooling, finishing his B ENG in Mechanical at Carleton University, and then taking a job with Dupont at the Kingston facility in 1980. Tim has lived in multiple locations around Kingston since 1980 and still resides in the west end.....

And so the 193 year saga of Timothy Donovans in Kingston continues.
