Update: Playground Accessibility Plan
The City of Kingston’s Arts, Recreation and Community Policies Committee has recommended the Playground Accessibility Plan report to Council at the next meeting scheduled for July 7.
The Committee’s recommendation includes:
- City Council endorse the Playground Accessibility Plan.
- That staff be directed to develop a Capital Implementation Plan for Playground upgrades in alignment with the Playground Accessibility Plan and in consideration of fiscal capacity and alignment with future Mayoral budget direction.
- That staff be directed to develop an Operational Plan that considers the increased service levels associated with the Playground Accessibility Plan as well as the fiscal capacity of the organization and alignment with future Mayoral budget direction.
- That the Playground Accessibility Audit Tool as presented in the Playground Accessibility Plan be adopted and integrated into operational plans.
- That staff be directed to undertake in-person playground audits of all playground sites every two years, using the Playground Accessibility Audit Tool and in support of asset management best practices.
