Engagement Summary
Terra Verde Park – Feedback Summary
Terra Verde Park is a new park in the Cataraqui North neighbourhood located at the southwest corner of Centennial Drive and Terra Verde Way.
On June 22, 2022, City staff and the design consultant met with the community to present the conceptual park design options in a virtual public meeting. Following the meeting, an online survey was posted on Kingston’s Get Involved platform. Participants were encouraged to complete the survey and to provide comments on the park layout and playground options.
Feedback was provided by 58 participants in the virtual meeting and through the online survey.
Feedback Summary
Two conceptual design options were provided for Terra Verde Park and survey participants were invited to select their preferred park layout and playground equipment.
Of the park layout options, most people preferred the centrally located playground and seating area, with open lawn areas to the north, low berms, tree plantings and a naturalized meadow to the southwest.
The most popular choice for playground equipment included an accessible playground structure with slides, climbers, stepping pods, play panels, and spring and spinner toys. The playground equipment will be situated on wood fibre safety play surfacing.
Most respondents were supportive of the proposed development of Terra Verde Park.
Comments outside the proposed scope of work included a desire for additional trees and seating and the inclusion of a shade structure. Future tree planting on this site will be considered.
