The safety and well-being of our residents and visitors, and a clean and enjoyable environment where everyone feels included, are priorities for the City of Kingston. The vision of the Community Standards By-Law is for the community to work together to create a livable Kingston.

On June 29, 2022, Kingston City Council directed staff to draft a by-law that would help deter certain types of nuisance behaviours in the community. The draft of the Community Standards By-Law includes:

  • Odours
  • Construction Materials and Construction Dust
  • Idling
  • Feeding of Wildlife
  • Textile Collection Sites & Flyers
  • Safe Use
