Project Update - September 2026

The discussion included questions about how the playground design was developed and whether some of the selected play equipment could be adjusted to better reflect community needs.

Following the discussion with the community, several changes were made to the design:

  • Swings: The proposed three swings—one saucer swing, one baby swing and one accessible swing—will be replaced with four swings: two strap swings, one baby swing and one accessible swing.
  • Pembridge Crescent fence: The fence along Pembridge Crescent will remain in place, with a minor adjustment at the pathway entrance.
  • Playground equipment: The low spinner will be replaced with a play structure designed for younger children, providing separate play structures for different age groups. (Please see the image below)
    • Updated playground renderings will be provided in the coming weeks and will be uploaded to Get Involved Kingston when available.

These changes have been incorporated into the procurement documents. Construction is anticipated to begin in fall 2026.
