Mayor for a Day

Two kids wearing oversized suits and ties. A large yellow medallion with red text, Mayor for a Day.

Mayor for a Day is a unique and exciting opportunity for local youth from around the city to learn more about municipal politics and civic issues. One Grade 5 student will be chosen to be Mayor for a Day based on their ideas for improving life in Kingston. The winner will be invited to spend the day with Mayor Bryan Paterson.

Being Mayor for a Day

The Mayor’s schedule looks different every day! The winning student can expect to take a tour of City Hall, attend a meeting and an event, take the Mayor’s seat in Council Chambers and enjoy lunch – all with Mayor Paterson. The day's schedule will be designed around the student's interests related to local government.
