Who is eligible for the fund?
Individuals, neighbourhood associations, cultural organizations and other local groups who want to organize events that build stronger community connections. Events must be open to the entire community.
Groups or events that are discriminatory, endorse businesses, encourage illegal activity, compromise public safety, fundraising, express political views or violate City bylaws, policies or procedures are not eligible.
How much money will I receive for my program/event?
Funding is provided in-kind to offset eligible costs for events. You can receive up to the following amounts for each type of event:
It is possible to receive additional funds, after in-kind costs are paid out to support the event, to a maximum of $1,500.
Which event costs are covered by the fund?
The fund covers costs related to insurance, facility or park bookings, road closure signage and movie screen rentals. The Community Development Coordinator will work with you to outline which costs are covered.
How many times can I apply?
Your group can receive the Neighbourhood Activation Fund once per year.
My group has received another City grant. Can we still apply?
Any group receiving other City grants (e.g., City of Kingston Arts Fund, City of Kingston Heritage Fund, Community Investment Fund, etc.) is not eligible for the Neighbourhood Activation Fund within the same calendar year.
