My Thoughts

I don't like the statues as it does put the person on a pedestal. Not that they did not make huge contributions to our history in a good way but we need to recognize the dark side. History is history, very important but important to understand the entire story. After really researching, listening and reading everything I can I am now more aware (and definitely not fully aware yet) of the past here in Canada, we need more education, learning and speaking the language, or at least the option is available. I for one would have loved to learn about the culture.

Back to the statue....remove statues and put plaques up with all history, not just the pretty stuff.

Leave the statues but put up others depicting the Native American history with it.

Start recognizing more important indigenous leaders with statues, street names, schools named after them etc. We, as the white person (even though I am completely mixed with different races as most of us are here in Canada), do not get to claim all the importance and glory of our history.
