What is the DIA engagement process?

During the 30 days of engagement residents will have an opportunity to provide comments through the project email at thirdcrossing@cityofkingston.ca, over the phone through the City’s contact us centre, online at the City’s Get Involved page, and at one of the open houses by submitting a comment card. All comments, questions and responses from the project team will be compiled into a report which will be submitted along with the DIA to federal departments and agencies for review and will be posted online by the end of October.

What is a Detailed Impact Assessment (DIA)

To meet federal requirements, the City is in a collaborative process to complete a Detailed Impact Assessment (DIA), which is a regulatory requirement for the project. The DIA includes the project team drafting a comprehensive report that demonstrates the environmental considerations, impacts and proposed mitigation strategies for the project.  Federal departments and agencies must approve the DIA before it goes for public review.

After the DIA is completed what happens then?

Federal departments and agencies will review all the final DIA, including the public comments, and decide on issuing an in-water permit.
