Waterfront wayfinding strategy
Consultation has concluded
The City wants to encourage residents and visitors to find their way to and along Kingston’s waterfront. It is developing its Waterfront Wayfinding Strategy which will outline where and how to use signage, public art and other similar elements to creatively celebrate and promote the waterfront trail.
The strategy will apply to Kingston’s waterfront and will be aimed at drawing more people to the waterfront and enriching their experience.
- Signage should help direct people to the waterfront, guide them along it, as well as frame and highlight its features.
- Artful elements should help the community connect physically and spiritually to the water.
Resident input will be used to determine the kinds and placement of the signage and artful elements the City will offer.

Wayfinding Map
An important first step in the wayfinding, celebration and promotion of the waterfront, is that we want to hear from you.
Use the colour coded pins to provide input as follows:
- Key waterfront destinations requiring signage (yellow dots)
- Recommended locations for art installations (red dots)
- Key nodes deserving of interpretation/educational signage (blue dots)
Comments, suggestions and images can be placed on the map after the pins have been placed. Only pins placed within the boundaries of the City of Kingston will be considered.
