What is a curb bulb-out?
A curb bulb-out, often also called a curb extension, is an area where the curb stretches out further than normal into the roadway. This is designed to improve pedestrian safety by calming and slowing traffic by narrowing the roadway, this also makes the distance to cross the road shorter and makes pedestrians more visible to drivers.
