The wooden bridge at Faircrest Park (31 Faircrest Blvd.) is scheduled to be replaced in 2025.
The project has two parts:
Replacing the existing wooden bridge with a concrete box culvert with railings over the creek bed. This design is less expensive and requires less maintenance and replacement costs than a steel truss or a wooden bridge.
Replacing the existing limestone screen path with an accessible paved pathway from the south of the park by Faircrest Boulevard to the play structure.
Please note: The new pathway, once constructed, will not be maintained during the winter months.
Construction impacts
Access: During construction, the pathway from Faircrest Boulevard to the play structure in Faircrest Park will be inaccessible. Signs and barricades will be put in place.

An investigation of the bridge condition was carried out during the summer of 2024, which included geotechnical investigations, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, environmental investigations, topographic surveys and bathymetric (the analysis of underwater topography) surveys. The findings of these investigations showed that while the bridge was in "fair" condition overall, the timber posts and piers are unstable and the structure has displaced laterally or shifted to the side, requiring replacement of the bridge
An image from the investigation of the bridge's condition.
Originally built in 2000, the wooden bridge will be 25 years old by the time it is replaced. The new replacement will allow the creation of an accessible pathway to the park structure and playground area.
