Consultation has concluded
The City of Kingston is planning for several changes to parking in the area of Breakwater Park after park usage increased significantly last summer following the park’s extensive make over. The parking changes are being made to address the need for short-term parkers to enjoy Breakwater Park as well as accessibility and neighbourhood concern.
The changes include:
Shifting the time restricted parking on Beverley Street from the west of the street to the east side
Adding metered parking on the lower part Collingwood and King between Collingwood and Albert
Improved signage on Beverley and Collingwood
Adding two accessible parking spaces on the east side of Beverley Street near King.
Staff will monitor these changes as we continue to understand the usage at the park and the impact on the neighbouring streets.
In December, a pedestrian activated signal was installed on the east side of Beverley Street at King to improve safety for the increased number of pedestrians approaching the park from the north and west.
