On March 24, 2020, Council approved the staff recommendation to create a Community Benefit Program (Samsung) Reserve with the purpose of accumulation funds to acquire parkland or natural land. After 2022, residents will be consulted regarding the continued accumulation or use of the funds, including considering improvements to rural boat launches.
How would you spend the Community Benefit Program Fund?
The Kingston Solar LP Community Benefit Fund is part of an agreement with Kingston Solar LP (Samsung), which contributes $1,250 per megawatt of power produced by their project to the City over the next 20 years. The balance of the fund with 2020 contributions is $93,997.36.
