Consultation has concluded


At the Nov. 20, 2018 meeting, the Administrative Policies Committee voted to defer the proposed residential rental licensing program until the current secondary planning studies and the zoning bylaw consolidation are complete. (see the committee motion and minutes).


The City is considering a residential rental licensing program for residential developments containing one to three rental units. The program, if approved by Council, would require rental properties with one to three units to meet certain standards to ensure the health and safety of renters. It is proposed that the residential rental licensing program also include short-term rentals and boarding, rooming and lodging houses.

    The City invites tenants, landlords, homeowners and residents to share their opinions on residential rental licensing. The feedback received will inform the development of a draft residential rental licensing by-law which will be presented for Council’s consideration in late summer.
