Extended Engagement for Madoma Park Court Replacement

In March 2026, the City conducted public engagement for the Madoma Park Court Replacement Project to help determine whether the redeveloped courts should include four dedicated pickleball courts or two dedicated tennis courts. The feedback received indicated a desire for broader consultation to allow further consideration of the dedicated court options that best align with park user expectations.

The City’s Parks and Recreation Master Plan supports the provision of dedicated sports courts rather than shared, overlaid courts.

Dedicated courts help to reduce user conflicts, to improve accessibility and the overall user experience, and better support organized and tournament play. Dedicated courts do not include court overlays, thereby improving the player experience as the lines are easier to interpret during play.

Dedicated pickleball courts help to improve equity among user groups, as pickleball players would no longer be required to provide and set up their own nets to use the courts.
